Laureates in in the filed of science and engineering, honored men and
women in education are working at 103 departments of the BNTU. Their
professional potential allows to carry out the specialist’ training at the level
of world and European standards in such fields as bioengineering,
informatics, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, architecture, power
engineering, instrument-making, industrial economy, international
standardization and certification, audit activities, ecology etc.
In 1947 Nobel Prize Laureate in the field of Physics (2000) Zhores I. Alferov
started his studies at the BNTU (know in the 40-ies as the Belarusian
Polytechnic Institute).
During the last period of time a great number of new specialties were
introduced: Biotechnical and Medical Devices and Systems, Marketing,
Management, Business and Administration, Book-Keeping, Analysis and
Audit, ICT, Urban Electrical Transport, Industrial Robots and Robotics
Complexes, World Economy and International Economic Relations etc. Two
new Faculties (Faculty of Nature Resources and Ecology, Faculty of
Management technologies and Humanities) have been established in 2002.
In 2003-2004 academic years the BNTU provides higher education in 72
specialists at 15 main faculties.
The BNTU’s multi-level system of education is in process of introduction

higher education). Graduating it student may continue studies at the BNTU
on optional courses or choose another higher institution; 2nd level – 5-year
curriculum for receiving Bachelor degree and qualification “an engineer”;
3rd level 6-year curriculum, Master of Science degree and the right to
lecture engineering subjects in technical colleges or work as researcher. In
total 6-year of studying.
Post-graduate Courses (M>Phil.Ph.D) maybe taken in the following
directions: Mechanics, Physics, Biological Science, Engineering Science as
Mechanical engineering and Science of Materials, Physical and
Engineering Processes and Equipment (as well as plasma and PVD
coatings), Powers, Metallurgic and Chemical Mechanical Engineering,
Electrical Engineering , Instrument-Making, Metrology and Information-
Measuring Device and System, Informatics and Computing Machinery,
Metallurgy Power Engineering, Transport, Civil Engineering, Economic
Science, Theory and Methods of Professional Training, Architecture and
Ecology.
Students are trained at 15 faculties: Automobile and Tractor; Milling
Engineering and Ecology; Mechanical Engineering; Mechanical
technological, Marketing, Management and Entrepreneurship; Power
Engineering; Information technologies and Robotics; Management
Technologies and Humanities; Engineering-Pedagogical; Power
Engineering Construction; Architecture; Civil Engineering; Instrument-
Making; Transport Communications; Military Engineering.
In 1960 The University started training Students from Europe, Asia, Africa
and Latin America. More than 5000 foreign alumni of the BNTU successfully
work in their countries as Ministers, Directors and Managers of industrial
enterprises, Heads of Scientific research centres and educational
institution, Chief Architects. In 1995 the International Association of
Graduate of the Belarusian State Polytechnic Academy was founded and in
1997 on the Basis of the BSPA with IAG assistance – the International
Students’ Association (first in the Republic of Belarus) was opened.
The Courses of the Chinese and Arabic Languages are opened on the
